Overview

The primary purpose of your job position is to perform the day-to-day activities of the Environmental Services Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator, and/or the Environmental Services Manager to assure that the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.

Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible for the cleanliness of the physical plant and environment, including the fixtures, furniture and equipment in a clean, safe, attractive, and operative state at all times.
  • Dust furniture, light fixtures, lamps, window ledges, air conditioner units, etc. Use furniture polish on furniture once per week.
  • Empty and wash ash trays.
  • Empty and change liners in all waste cans daily or when needed.
  • Clean and wash all basins, commodes, lavatories and fixtures.
  • Clean all chrome fixtures to avoid water marks.
  • Spot clean all walls.
  • Check vacant rooms daily to keep fresh, and keep furniture straight.
  • Pick up bottles, papers, etc. from floors and rooms and put in proper place.
  • Report any repairs or burned light bulbs to Environment Services Manager promptly. Additionally, check for broken windows or other repairs that may need to be made and report to Manager.
  • Clean and dust patient rooms daily. This includes moving furniture to clean behind, under beds, and in corners.
  • Ensure windows and furniture in lobby and main entrance are clean and presentable.
  • Dust, clean and vacuum administrative offices twice weekly.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas daily.
  • Keep buffers and mops clean daily along with utility rooms and buckets.
  • Keep hallways and entrances clear of debris at all times.
  • Activity room and nurses station areas should be attended to daily and kept neat, clean, and organized.
  • Pick up cleaning supplies for next days work at the end of shift.
  • Use only supplies that are needed and try not to be wasteful.
  • Follow cleaning schedule as outlined in Housekeeping Policies and Procedures.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • In good physical, mental and emotional health and able and willing to perform heavy lifting and tedious physical chores inside. When conditions warrant, willing to work outside the facility as well.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Able to read and write with clarity sufficient to follow instructions, identify materials for their labels and understand directions for use. Able to make written reports as necessary.
  • Advocate of team concept, with willingness to contribute and be supportive.
  • Minimum completion of at least 8th grade equivalent.
