• Assess ongoing education and training needs for nursing and clinical departments and develop appropriate learning plans.
• Coordinate and conduct clinical new hire orientation for nursing staff, including policies, procedures, and resident care standards.
• Plan, schedule, and deliver required in-services, competencies, and refresher training.
• Provide hands-on instruction, demonstrations, and one-on-one coaching to reinforce safe and effective practices.
• Utilize varied adult-learning methods including presentations, demonstrations, multimedia tools, and external speakers as appropriate.
• Follow up with employees at established intervals to assess performance and additional training needs.
• Maintain accurate documentation of orientation, competencies, and in-service education in accordance with regulatory and facility requirements.
• Monitor safe work practices and collaborate with the Safety Committee to support corrective and preventive actions.
• Remain current on standards of practice through communication with regulatory agencies such as the Health Department and CDC.
• Administer, manage, and monitor learning management and compliance systems (e.g., Silverchair).
• Support Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives related to education and competency.
• Support select recruiting activities for nursing and clinical roles by providing input related to training readiness and competency requirements.
• Participate in interview panels or candidate evaluations as requested to assess clinical skill fit and onboarding needs.
• Collaborate with nursing leadership and Human Resources to communicate training expectations during the hiring process.
• Communicate education needs, scheduling, and resource considerations to the Director of Nursing.
• Provide input regarding education-related budget needs.
• Educate staff on new or revised procedures, equipment, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain effective communication with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
